Hello -- if anyone is still visiting this site, (January was my last posting) here are a few shots to update you -- the tulips are from a flower farm outside of Portland. This should explain why we want to settle here. Pix of me and three of my grand kids having a ball at Fudpuckers restaurant. The water fall and the mountain are shots from Yosemite. This explains why we have spent the last four plus years traveling this beautiful country. Our plans are to sell our home on wheels and buy a house near Portland. Stay tuned.

Hello all -- I know it's been awhile, but us retired folk get so busy (doing nothing) that we just don't have the time to post pix on our blog. Well Jann gave me a kick where the sun don't shine and inspired me to get posting. So here goes -- here is a shot of the Swanee River Bridge -- pretty exciting start isn't it? Well speaking of exciting, how about a shot of me and my girl friend Lori Carrico doing what we do best. Finally, a shot of my real girl friend at one of our many stops. OK, stay tuned over the next few days for pix of Jann's trip to Europe --- that's right, she went to Europe and left me home. My turn is coming up. More later.

Hello again -- here are a few shots of our travels. Ruby has learned how to go for a walk on a leash. The alligator turned up one morning waiting for Ruby to go for her daily walk. She decided to stay in that day. We had a quick snow storm in NC that lasted one day. Snow is beautiful when you know it will be gone in a day or two. Finally, there is a shot of a swamp located on a plantation we visited just outside of Charleston. We are currently making our way through Virginia on our way to NYC. YEA!!! We hope to visit Tim & MJ and their kids along the way.

I don't know if the shot of our park in Chapel Hill is a repeat, but even if it is, it is worth another look. The shot of me is just to let all know I have not changed that much and Jann is losing her battle to make me behave. Enjoy.

As promised -- here a few more shots to keep you abreast of our travels. That's Jann holding up a tree we found somewhere. The house with the two trees I think was in Savannah (one of our favorite cities) the other house with the front porch is where they filmed Fried Green Tomatoes -- if you haven't seen it your should. Finally is a shot of our latest camp site in NC -- the snow disappeared in two days and the weather is now great. Both cats were afraid of the snow so we did not have to put up with Ruby always teasing to go our. Stay tuned, I am in the mood to share pictures, so I will be adding more soon.

Well, it;s been awhile so we will be making up for our blog neglect by posting more pix over the next couple of weeks. Here are some shots of Charleston and Savannah. Also, we were able to drive down for a brief visit with my daughter Lori C. in Ft. Lauderdale. The small pink house is our new home in Charelston We bought it with all of our stock market profits -- Oh Yeah, that's what we did all right. More to follow in a day or so --- stay tuned.

Here are three more shots of our trip to France -- see copy below.

Saturday, October 04, 2008

Greetings. We are currently camped near Jacksonville, NC and will be leaving soon for Charleston, SC. Jann will hold down the fort while I meet up with DOC, Kevin, David and Larry for our annual Las Vegas get together. Here are some photos of our fabulous trip to France with Steve and Pam. In addition to France, we spent an afternoon in Spain and a full day in Heidelberg. Here are some random shots of the trip. It was all so beautiful, I has a tough time choosing which prints to attach. Note the name on the Cafe directly behind me. Also, we had lunch in a small village right next to the path of the Tour De France. The other shot is from our room over looking Heidelberg. Finally, a shot of the beach in Spain. I'll add more in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned.

OK -- so we've been busy, what with traveling across Europe with Steve and Pamella, and relocating to Virginia, we just haven't had much time for blogging. So here's a quickie while I get the European pictures in order. This is one of Jann with some guy from a pick-up band we enjoyed while in Arkansas.

Hello all -- here are some shots of our recent travel. Pix of an under ground cavern, Jann at the river, me and my second best gal doing what we do best -- relaxing -- and a picture of our home anchored in Chapel Hill NC. This is by far the most beautiful site we have ever camped at. We are now off to Europe to hook up with our Pals Steve and Pam to tour Southern France and a bit of Germany. Stay tuned for pix of the vacation.

There are several great reasons why we are considering making Kentucky our permanent address -- good food, good weather (so far) and great Bourbon. Here is a shot of the state capital, one of me and one of my favorite Food Channel stars and finally one of me and my favorite bird. On to Nashville for some Grand Ole Opry fun. Stay tuned.

OK -- we finally settled in one spot long enough to order our 2006 Christmas present from Dana and Kevin -- New England Lobsters shipped directly to our motor coach. Jann was extremely excited as she offers a toast and reprise's her Broadway role in "Horton Hears a Who." Thanks for a great dinner, Kevin and Dana.

Well the high cost of Diesel ($4.50 and going up) has caused us to slow our pace a bit. We are staying in Horn Lake MS. for a month. What does one do in Horn Lake, MS, you ask? Well fortunately it is a short 20 minute drive from Memphis, TN. What does one do in Memphis you ask? There is one main attraction -- see photo. Once we discover more to do in Horn Lake and Memphis, we will post it immediately. Stay tuned.

We are now (May 2008) parked in Hot Springs about 30 minutes from Little Rock. At first we were very impressed with this area -- the deepest green vistas we have seen since leaving Portland. But then we talked to a few natives and discovered the high temperatures and even higher humidity that is so common here in the summer. So we will not be settling in Arkansas

Before leaving Texas we ate at Babes Chicken, just outside of Dallas -- twice!!! It is absolutely the best fried chicken you will ever eat in Texas. Side dishes served in separate bowls include mashed potatoes, corn and greens. YUM!!!

The pictures include shots of Wichita Falls and the red river that feeds the falls. Jann and a brief visit with an ex-president and the hog statue sits outside of the Farmers Market in Little Rock -- go figure. There is also a picture of a typical Arkansas RV that was converted from a truck. You gotta love Arkansas.
As you can see, gas is a lot cheaper in Arkansas and we bought a bar for eldest son Dennis, Jr for his retirement. Now we are on to Tennessee hopefully to meet up with son Kevin for the famous Memphis Barbecue cook off. Pictures and report to follow.

We left New Mexico and are now in Amarillo, TX. We'll stay here a couple of days then move South East. We really enjoyed seeing the kids in New Mexico, but the injury list ran too high:
1. Dana Deane: torn ligament on her thumb

2. DECO, Jr. -- possible torn rotor cuff, sprained elbow and thumb and severely bruised hip

3. Grand Ma Jann -- sprained ankle, Bruised elbow and hip.

The price we had to pay was too high. We are crossing NM off the list for family vacations -- BAD JU-JU!!! Not only that, as you can see --- as soon as the kids left, Santa Fe turned into a winter wonderland. Go figure.
